Reason I choose auto: Keep in mind than I can drive stick just fine if needed, but with the stop and go traffic of my school's parking lot, no need for that extra stress.

Oh, and one parking lot isn't really a valid reason to opt out of driving manual. Unless it's the size of Texas, you'll live.

There are several stick shift cars at school that do just fine. Ok, manuél is a consideration yet again.
EDIT: My dad denied the manuél. He said it's fun in the beginning to learn but gets old really fast. Fair enough.

I don't think any of those reasons should deter you from buying a manual. Unless you live in a metropolitan area that is frequently congested, I'd say manual should be no problem.
